Tandem carefully develops software updates to ensure your safety and satisfaction. Please review the instructions and take time to understand the new features before beginning your update.

What's Included

This update adds Basal-IQ™ technology to your t:slim X2™ insulin pump, which helps reduce the frequency and duration of low-glucose events by predicting glucose levels 30 minutes ahead and suspending insulin if they are expected to drop below 4.4 mmol/L. Insulin resumes as soon as sensor glucose values begin to rise.

Update Eligibility

Contact your local Customer Technical Support to determine if your pump is eligible for an update.

This update may require a prescription and you will need to complete training before you can receive the unique Update ID needed to update your t:slim X2 insulin pump. If you completed the training process and did not receive your code or are unsure if your pump is eligible for this update, please contact your local Customer Technical Support.

Update Your Pump

Here are the three simple steps to update the software on your t:slim X2 insulin pump:

1

Before You Begin

Basal-IQ technology only works with the Dexcom G6* continuous glucose monitor (CGM). Your t:slim X2 insulin pump will no longer be compatible with Dexcom G5 Mobile CGM following this update. If you have G5 supplies you plan to use, we recommend postponing this update until you are ready to switch to the new Dexcom G6 CGM System.

Please consult the Tandem Device Updater User Guide and have the following on hand:

  • Your Update ID. If you cannot locate your Update ID, contact your local Customer Technical Support.
  • A backup insulin delivery option, such as a syringe and fast-acting insulin, in case there are any issues updating your insulin pump. These items should be part of your Emergency Kit and should be kept with you at all times.
  • Your blood glucose meter so that you can check your BG prior to starting the update.
  • A convenient time to stop all insulin delivery, detach your infusion set, and remove your cartridge. We recommend performing the update when you are ready to change your cartridge.
  • A computer with an internet connection. If you are using a laptop, make sure that it remains plugged in to a wall outlet during the half hour it will take to complete the software update.
