Spare A Rose this Valentine's Day

Kerri Sparling

Hi, I’m Kerri Sparling and I have been living with type 1 diabetes for 30 years. I write SixUntilMe.com and have been working for the last twelve years to make a difference in the diabetes community. This year, the diabetes online community is continuing to throw their support behind the Spare a Rose campaign and we’re proud to have the support of Tandem helping to spread the message of diabetes advocacy and empowerment.

This Valentine’s Day, show your love for that special someone with a gift that truly gives something: Life, for a child.

Instead of buying a dozen roses for your sweetheart, send eleven roses and donate the value of that saved rose to the International Diabetes Federation’s Life for a Child charity. Life for a Child provides life-saving insulin, diabetes supplies, and education for children in developing countries.

If you’re feeling super lovey-dovey, skip the roses entirely and instead make a donation that can save the life of a child for a year.

One rose, one month of life; a dozen roses, a year of life.  The math is beautiful in its simplicity and powerful in its ability to change the world for a kid with diabetes who needs your help.
